Our Chicken Coop Is Garbage - Do Not Buy

We purchased this coop from mypetchicken.com for about $650, and it has only been in use since July 20, 2014 (5 months), and check out how badly it is already falling apart.  We are very disappointed.

July 20, 2014 - The Girls Move Outside!

The girls moved outside yesterday, July 19th. They had a great time foraging out in the yard for a little while before we locked them back up in their run.  When we came out to check on them later in the evening they had put themselves to sleep in their coop!  Good girls!
Here are some pics of them from today!
We ordered this sweet coop kit from mypetchicken.com

July 1, 2014 The Chicks Move In!

The chicks were rapidly outgrowing their crate and their coop kit just happened to arrive on the same day, so we decided to build this last night and move them in without delay.  We love the coop so far!  We found it on mypetchicken.com...

This is just the coop part.  A cool run is included with the kit, but we can't build it until we move this bad boy outside in another 3 - 5 weeks.  (We have the roof open in this pic, in case you were wondering.)

The girls were petrified at first, but immediately relaxed when I popped my big head in through their front door.  Then, it was back to business as usual, and by business I mean eating, pooping, and kicking pine shavings everywhere.

So much more room for them in here!

The floor is a shiny metal, and they go crazy over shiny stuff...

This is a view inside from the window at the top.  They were huddled in the only spot of light that was coming in.  I think they were a little worried about their new home.

Chris installed a perch for the girls today.  They thought it was the greatest thing since towel time.

The perch immediately made Bonnie and Molly very sleepy.  They couldn't even keep their eyes open.  But that wasn't the case for Penny...

As you can see, the other two are knocked out, but Penny continues to keep a watchful eye on us.

But eventually, even Penny could not resist the powers of the perch.

Penny, Bonnie and Molly on June 26, 2014

Here were the girls last night...  Eating, again.  Well, they have a lot of growing to do in the next few months so it makes sense.  The night before last we invented something really great for the girls.  It's a chance for them to stretch their legs and wings, get stimulated, explore and forage...  We call it, "towel time".

As you can see, the concept is quite simple.  An ordinary towel is laid out on the bed (to catch their many poops) and the chicks are placed on top.  At first they just stand there, confused, but within moments the fun begins.  Here you see Penny, discontent to simply forage for crumbles like her sisters.  She is on her way to explore new, unchartered territory.

Pecking at the crumbles we've sprinkled out for them.  Notice Penny in the background now going off to explore in the other direction.

Chris sprinkles out more crumbles for the chicks.  Pecking and scratching ensue.

Foraging...
